Dear Mr. Oglivy; I just got hired as an account manager at {agency name deleted due to legal constrictions} agency in New York City and need some guidance. What are some quick "do's and don'ts" I should be aware of to help me move forward here? They have me on a client that is a b-to-b software integrated services reseller primarily in the safety/security sub-sector if that's any help.

David Oglivy Answers: Hearty Congratulations on your new position. I have done a lot of business with {agency name deleted due to legal constrictions}. Is {name withheld] still there? We once took a vacation together in the South of France, and brainstormed ideas while sunning and drinking dozens of martinis. People talked, but they always do. You know, while I'm on the topic, I strongly recommend using mottled ice cubes in a shaken and strained drink as the only way to go. Raul, my manservant and valet was the first to point this out to me when we were driving through the English heather on my way into the office one morning in the Bentley. Apparently, because of the differences in shape of the cubes, shards of ice are created that actually seem to float in the drink once it is poured, and it makes a fantastic presentation if you float just a little sherry on the top. Spectacular. Well, look at the time. I must be off to another meeting. Do we have any more questions?

"I'm sorry, Mr. Oglivy is unreachable now. Would you like to leave a voice mail"?

We have created many eye catching images over the years to many agencies, Oglivy included. Haven't seen Oglivy in quite some time. ............ oh... To the question... When in France, do you think that way? I love Biarritz, Capbreton, Paris, all of Suisse, and of course England is my favorit and my second home, but for ideas I would go east where life is fast and growth is amazing.
